.
Take a simple Reverse Lunge for example. Everything about this movement has evolved to ensure safety and optimum function
.
1. As the back leg drops: hip flexor complex is forced to open. Over time adaptation to this exercise reduces the load on the lower back
.
2. Dropping lower to the ground destabilises the spine. To to protect the spine from excessive load the front knee HAS to bend. With bent knee it becomes harder to ARCH your lower back. This keeps the body upright and  naturally protects it from the increasing load required to get BACK UP
.
3. In order to GET BACK UP your body braces the trunk. 90% you don’t even think about it but it is that bracing that ensures an upright posture on the way up. Upright posture reduces the load on the rest of the body. This is supported by the aforementioned hip mobility and front knee flexion.
.
4. As you drive your heel into the ground YOUR BUTT, hamstrings and calf fire as one creating the necessary force to lift
.
5. As the body comes further away from the ground the load on the spine is gradually reduced. And the legs naturally straighten.
.
Almost every movement you do has evolved to help you live longer and better

1. Hip thrust x 20 reps
2. Lean x 20 reps
.
• Hip thrust for the glutes and hamstrings
• The lean for quads, core and hip flexor flexibility
.
Slow, controlled movements. Focus on tight core, maintaining alignment and keeping butt tight (like you ever don’t...)
